Ultrasonic Probe Actuator

A customer needed an ultrasonic probe actuator for the use in a harsh outdoor environment to excite a liquid. They needed not only the piezoelectric actuator but the entire probe assembly with integrated wires.

The Solution

Piezo.com engineers worked with the customer by first understanding the piezoelectric design needs (force and displacement output for a given electrical input). After the initial design of the piezoelectric component, the team went on to the entire probe assembly including the titanium body.  ANSYS simulation was needed to optimize the body shape before producing the first prototypes.

The Result

After the initial production run, Piezo.com has been producing over 100 units annually for use in the customer's product.
