explanation of PART NUMBERS for piezoelectric sheets
and plates
The part number
pertains to geometry and construction rather than mode of operation. For single sheets, the part number describes the part thickness,
piezoceramic material, and size. Generally, single sheets are polarized through the thickness dimension.

PART NUMBER Example
This is a single layer piezoelectric transducer, made with PSI-5A4E
piezoceramic (nickel electrodes). It is 2.85" long, 2.85" wide, and .0075" thick.
T - Single sheets are considered transducer
elements. They are generally used as construction stock and are not mounted or wired.
Thicker sheets increase the volume of piezoceramic.
Greater volume produces greater energy output in roughly the same space.
1 - designates a single sheet.
The third and fourth positions indicate the sheet thickness:
05 - .005" (.127mm)
07 - .0075" (.191mm)
10 - .0105" (.267mm)
20 - .020" (.508mm)
40 - .040" (1.02mm)
80 - .080" (2.03mm)
A4E
PSI-5A4E is an industry type 5A (Navy Type II)
piezoceramic. Thin vacuum sputtered nickel electrodes produce extremely low current leakage and low magnetic permeability.
5A has a wide temperature range and is the most insensitive to temperature variations.
H4E
PSI-5H4E is an industry type 5H (Navy Type VI)
piezoceramic. It has a high motion/volt and charge/newton rating, which is useful when voltage or force is limited. Thin
vacuum sputtered nickel electrodes produce extremely low current leakage and low magnetic permeability. However, its temperature
range is more limited and its properties are more sensitive to temperature.
A4NM
PSI-5A4E is an industry type 5A (Navy Type II)
piezoceramic with non-magnetic (silver) electrodes. It has a wide temperature range and is most insensitive
to temperature.
The shim reinforcement material is not applicable to single
sheet elements.
